Habitat for Humanity Super Blitz in Tulsa

Tulsa Habitat groupOn Sunday, June 8th members of our Tulsa team were up early and eager to participate in an exciting and very worthwhile community project – the Habitat for Humanity Super Blitz project. The project had the ambitious aim of building 8 homes in just 16 days, with the help of volunteers.  Wall-raising began on May 30th and the entire build project was completed by June 14th.

Our team of seven from the Tulsa location was part of a 2500 strong team of volunteers helping bring the project to fruition over the 16 days.  The team worked hard decorating the interior of the house, painting many rooms and putting up shelving and cabinets.  Tulsa manager Nancy Carter said: “As soon as we heard about this project we wanted to join in. It was a great experience for the team and we all really enjoyed working together to give something back to the community.”

The homes were presented to the eight families during a dedication and key presentation ceremony which took place on June 21st. The home recipients each repay a 20 year, zero interest mortgage. The principal from these mortgages goes back directly to Tulsa Habitat and will be used to help other Tulsa families with homeownership.

Pacific Shore Stones’ partners are committed to actively encouraging their staff to participate in community initiatives and projects. This commitment to community involvement helps strengthen the relationships between the business and community in each local area, and more  projects are planned for the future.
